1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Account information: your email address and, where you choose phone-based sign-in or verification, your phone number. Depending on your chosen sign-in method we store either a hashed password or issue passwordless magic-link credentials.
  • Profile information: your name, gender, date of birth, city and region, a short bio, profile photos, and optional details such as height and your preferred measurement system. Some of these fields are used to power Circles and dating features.
  • Content you create: habits, metrics, and the values you log; challenges you create or join and your participation records; and messages, photos, and attachments you send to other users.
  • Communications and consent: your messaging-related preferences and any opt-in you give for SMS marketing, along with the date and source of that consent.

1.2 Information We Collect Automatically

  • Usage and activity data: sign-in and sign-out times, last-active ("last seen") timestamps used to show presence to people you message, and your activity within the Service.
  • Device and connection data: IP addresses associated with account creation and sign-in, and standard server log information generated when you interact with the Service.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: we use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF). These are required for the Service to function and cannot be switched off. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. If we later introduce advertising or marketing cookies on our public pages, we will ask for your consent through an on-page banner before setting them, and you can decline.
  • Product analytics: to understand how the Service is used and improve it, we collect usage events (such as pages viewed and features used) through cookieless, first-party analytics. This uses a random device identifier stored in your browser's local storage (not a cookie) and is never used for advertising. Events for signed-in members are associated with an internal account identifier, not your name or email. Some usage events are also stored on our own servers; individual event records are retained for a limited period and then reduced to aggregate statistics (such as daily page-view counts) that no longer describe individual browsing activity. See Service Providers for the analytics processors we use.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and maintain your account and verify your email address or phone number;
  • Provide core features: habit and metric tracking, challenges, Circles, profiles, connections, and messaging;
  • Assign you to geographic Circles and scope community features to your area;
  • Keep the Service safe, including detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, spam, and violations of our Terms;
  • Communicate with you about your account, security, and service updates, and send marketing messages only where you have opted in;
  • Understand how the Service is used and improve it, including by analyzing aggregated or anonymized data.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below:

  • With other users: your profile, the content you post, and presence information are visible to other users according to the Service's design and your settings. For example, members of your Circles can see your public profile, and people you message can see your last-active status. Content shared in group features (such as challenge participation) may remain visible to other participants.
  • With service providers: we share information with vendors who process it on our behalf to operate the Service (see Service Providers).
  • For legal and safety reasons: we may disclose information when we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with the law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or Firewalker.
  • In a business transfer: if Firewalker is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
  • Aggregated or anonymized data: we may share data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.

4. Location and Circles

Firewalker uses the city and region you provide to place you into geographic Circles (Country, State/Province, City) that define your community context. We do not collect precise GPS location; Circle assignment is based on the location you select during onboarding or in your profile. By using the Service you consent to this use of your location information.

5. Service Providers

We rely on a small set of trusted providers to run the Service. They process information only as needed to perform their services for us:

  • Cloud hosting and database: Microsoft Azure hosts the application and stores your data.
  • Email delivery: SendGrid sends transactional emails such as verification and account messages.
  • SMS delivery: our SMS provider sends phone-verification codes and, where you have opted in, text messages.
  • Product analytics: Mixpanel and PostHog (both hosted in the United States) process usage events on our behalf so we can understand and improve the Service. They receive event data, an internal account identifier for signed-in members, and IP-derived approximate location (never your name, email address, or the content you create).

These providers are bound by contractual obligations to safeguard your information and to use it only for the purposes of providing services to us.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we remove your profile and personal information from active systems and delete your habit and challenge data, except where we must retain certain information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or enforce our agreements. Content you shared with other users (such as messages they received or group challenge participation) may persist for those users. We may retain anonymized or aggregated data indefinitely.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the rights to access, correct, export, or delete it, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise many of these directly:

  • Access and update: review and edit your profile information in your account settings.
  • Export: request a copy of your personal data, including habit history, challenge records, and profile information, in a commonly used, machine-readable format.
  • Delete: delete your account from your account settings or by contacting us.
  • Marketing opt-out: withdraw SMS marketing consent at any time; transactional messages necessary to operate your account will continue.

To make a request you cannot complete in the app, contact us at the address below. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

8. Security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, scoped access controls, and private storage for uploaded media. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your login credentials confidential and notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended only for adults 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it.

10. International Users

Firewalker is operated from the United States, and your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. These countries may have data-protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to these locations.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated policy and revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
